Yup, this man is really sleeping. It was the middle of the afternoon, and this nice looking man was taking a nap on a bench in a public square in Lisbon.
The statue of a man with a book instead of a face is Fernando Pessoa, a Portuguese poet.

I have done it too, and sometimes people really got mad at me!
Luckily, this man did not wake up. But a couple sitting on a bench next to him was always looking and piting at me.
